Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes were exceptional tv shows and DCI Gene Hunt is a great character, I have an American friend who's a retired cop who loves the Gene Genie, and when you find out who Gene really is then both shows take on a far deeper meaning. I debated with my wife as to whether or not Gene was a Guardian Angel guiding lost souls to where they needed to be or a lost soul trapped in his own Hell loop and finally finding the way out.

i remember being about 8 or 9 watching this on bbc 2 and shitting my pants cause there was a episode with ufo's in it haha

The role of Natasya is nearly impossible to cast. The actress here is fine, and as good as any out there, but you really need some sort of otherworldly beauty that explains the actions of Myshkin and Rogozhin. Kurosawa casted Setsuku Hara in his version, and it was the right idea, as she is extraordinarily captivating especially in Ozu films, but didn't quite hit home. You would need someone like a young Rita Hayworth for the role.
